(The Hosting News) – After the recent news that hacking group LulzSec is disbanding, the hacking group known as “Anonymous” is looking to continue its work in a movement that has been labeled “AntiSec.”
LulzSec announced on Saturday that it was shutting down its operation and asked its viewers to support Anonymous through Twitter.
Apparently the endorsement worked and the hacking group drastically increased its followers by around sixty-thousand.
Anonymous has claimed that members of LulzSec have joined their operation. They also recently released files pertaining to organizations like Sony and the CIA.
LulzSec gained notoriety during its 50 days of operation for breaching sites belonging to the U.S. Senate, the CIA, an FBI Affiliate, PBS, Sony, and others.
During their past breaches, both hacking groups have been politically motived.
Meanwhile, TechCrunch reported that Anonymous has already announced a new operation dubbed “Operation Orlando.”
With the new operation, Anonymous says it will target Orlando-based sites due to a recent incident involving police arresting members of Food Not Bombs. The group operates without a permit by providing homeless people with food.
Anonymous was previously suspected as being involved in April’s downtime of the PlayStation Network. However, the group denied any involvement.
In the past, Anonymous has been involved in breaches of sites belonging to different governments, including Turkey. The group also reportedly threatened to hack the U.S. Federal Reserve earlier this month.
