(The Hosting News) – A high volume of traffic hit Amazon.com Monday as Lady Gaga fans flocked to the site to download the pop star’s new album “Born this Way” for only 99 cents.
The high traffic overwhelmed Amazon’s the site’s servers, bringing customer downloads to a standstill.
Gaga fans took Twitter, expressing their disappointment. In an official statement on the company’s MP3 Twitter page, Amazon reassured the disappointed fans that they’d be able to complete their download and thanked them for their patience.
The site offered “Born this Way” for 99 cents as a promotion for the company’s Cloud Drive service. Making the purchase also qualified fans for a cloud storage upgrade of 20 GB.
Amazon most recently experienced a much larger problem in April when its cloud-based Amazon Web services crashed, causing downtime to services and popular internet sites such as Reddit, Quora, and Hootsuite.
