(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- IT infrastructure services provider Telehouse America (http://www.telehouse.com/) announced on Monday it is further expanding into China's South Coast with the TELEHOUSE Hong Kong CCC, a new 118,000 square foot data center.

Scheduled to begin service in December, this new facility offers premier carrier neutral data center services with a focus in cloud computing.

Telehouse Hong Kong CCC will be the 42nd data center in the Telehouse global portfolio. Last July, the company opened a data center in Shanghai.

The announcement also marks the company's third new data center to open this year, following the openings of its new data centers in Istanbul and Manhattan.

The data center will be the first Telehouse Cloud Computing Complex in Asia. TELEHOUSE Hong Kong CCC will provide customers excellent regional access across all Asian territories, including India.

Built in the Tseung Kwan O district, TELEHOUSE Hong Kong CCC, a neighbor to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange Data Center, offers high connectivity capacity from local cable landing stations.

Cloud computing in China is a relatively untapped market, giving hosting providers a huge opportunity to expand their data center footprint throughout the country to support these services. IDC expects that the data center market will reach $1.5 billion by 2013.

"This premier facility in Hong Kong will be the first Telehouse data center to target the cloud computing industry," said Noriyuki Kita, executive vice president of Telehouse America. "Telehouse seeks to meet marketplace demands, which in this case, targets the popularity and accelerated growth of cloud computing due to its reduced costs and capacity to meet the demands of businesses of all sizes. Telehouse has responded directly to increasing demand in the Asian market from corporations moving their businesses' IT needs to cloud platforms with a trusted, experienced global carrier-neutral colocation provider."

The new Telehouse Hong Kong CCC facility meets the "Telehouse Global Facility and Operations Standards".

The facility will comprise of an N+1 or 2(N+1) infrastructure, 24-hour security guards and authorized access, high perimeter walled site, security cameras, IC cards, and an authentication system.

The new data center is the result of Telehouse's parent company, KDDI (www.kddi.com/english/index.html), who made a 50 percent investment in HKCOLO.NET, a data center operator in Hong Kong who will manage Telehouse Hong Kong CCC.

The partnership was founded on the mutual need for new data center space in this densely populated, high demand region.
