(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Web host and domain registrar Go Daddy (http://www.godaddy.com/) is set to launch its cloud computing service called Data Center On Demand, according to a report by GigaOm last week.

The service is set to launch in July, and is currently in limited release phase while the infrastructure is built out.

According to a marketing brochure acquired by GigaOm, GoDaddy will offer three plans including economy, deluxe and ultimate. The plans range from $49.99 per month to $279.99 per month, respectively, with discounts available for prepaid options.

The economy plan offers one server, 1 GB RAM and 40GB storage with unlimited indbound bandwidth, 100 GB per month outbound bandwidth and other resources available a la carte. In contrast, the ultimate plan offers six servers, three with 2GB RAm and 40GB storage and three with 1GB RAM and 40GB storage.

The brochure says it is ideal for medium to large businesses, start-ups ready to experience explosive growth or web developers. GoDaddy says that its Data Center On Demand machines require technical experience and suggests companies with IT teams are needed for the service.

Go Daddy "uses Cloud.com's CloudStack private-cloud software for the resource-orchestration layer," according to the report.

According to a report by CRN, Data Center On Demand enables users to create a virtual data center with multiple servers and offers scalability, load balancers and templates for cloud environments.

Both reports speculate the offering could compete with Amazon and Rackspace clouds. Though Go Daddy hasn't confirmed this, it is a household name and is considered to be one of the top domain registrars in the US.

Recently, Go Daddy experienced a short outage after a failed software update.
