(The Hosting News) – Three members of hacker group Anonymous have been arrested in Spain, suspected of being involved in the hacking of Sony’s PlayStation network. Besides the Sony attack, the men were also suspected of hacking banks in Spain.
According to police, one of the men operated from a server based in Gijon, Spain.
Anonymous had previously denied any involvement with the breach on PSN. The group mostly uses DDOS attacks to breach its victims.
The hacking group has also gone after companies it saw as going against document-leaking organization WikiLeaks. Other companies that Anonymous has been accused of hacking include PayPal and Amazon.
Police didn’t reveal the suspects’ identities but a report from Reuters indicated the men are all in their 30’s.
Sony suffered massive downtime of its PlayStation Network in April due to the massive security breach that possibly left thousands of users’ information exposed to hackers. During the downtime, Sony rebuilt the network to make it stronger against vulnerabilities.
Meanwhile, Spanish police have indicated that more arrests may occur.
