(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Web hosting provider Datapipe (www.datapipe.com) had the most reliable hosting company website in May, according to a report by Netcraft (www.netcraft.com).
According to the report, Datapipe had a single failed request from Netcraft's performance monitors in May.
May was a busy month for Datapipe, before securing $176 million in combined equity and credit financing the company converted its US data centers to 100 percent renewable energy.
The company provides colocation and managed services from data centers in New Jersey, California, London, Shanghai and Hong Kong.
Datapipe took the top spot in Netcraft's January and February surveys as well.
The second most reliable hosting company website in May was ServerBeach which failed to respond to two requests. PEER 1 Hosting launched ServerBeach in July 2010 to serve the Canadian market. The Web host uses PEER 1's IT infrastructure and network backbone to offer cloud services, dedicated servers, managed hosting and colocation, according to the report.
Rounding off the top three is Canadian Web host iWeb Technologies. Recently, iWeb announced that it had received an offer to privatize the company. The WHIR talked to iWeb chief financial officer Philip Tousignant about the proposed deal in May.
Based in Montreal, iWeb offers managed hosting, dedicated servers and colocation.
The rest of the top ten includes New York Internet, Swishmail, Choopa, Qubenet, Kattare Internet Services, UK2 and Rackspace.
Datapipe runs on FreeBSD, while ServerBeach and iWeb run on Linux. Half of the top ten websites run on Linux, four run on FreeBSD and Rackspace runs F5 Big-IP, according to the report.
Netcraft posts the response times of about 40 leading hosting providers' websites each month.
