(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Wholesale data center provider Digital Realty Trust (https://www.digitalrealtytrust.com/build-to-suit-data-center.aspx) announced on Monday that software developer Adobe Systems (http://www.adobe.com/) has signed a lease agreement in its 29A International Business Park data center in Singapore.
This announcement comes a few weeks after Digital Realty completed phase one of its Massachussets data center.
According to the press release, this agreement will provide Adobe with data center infrastructure to support its mission critical computing systems. Adobe says it will rely on the infrastructure to meet increased demand for Adobe's software-as-a-service solutions in the region.
"We are delighted that Adobe has selected Digital Realty Trust as its partner for this mission-critical data centre," Kris Kumar, regional head, Asia Pacific, Digital Realty Trust said in a statement. "Digital Realty Trust is committed to providing local, regional and global enterprise customers with secure, reliable and cost effective data centre facilities. We believe our operating expertise and global resources will continue to benefit our customers as they expand their IT operations in the Asia Pacific region."
Adobe says it has seen increased demand from the education, government and enterprise market.
"Choosing Digital Realty Trust is aligned with our strategy of partnering with leading companies that help us best meet our customers' needs," Brandon Pulsipher, vice president of network operations, Omniture Business Unit, Adobe stated. "Adobe is firmly committed to expanding and providing improved services to our Asia Pacific customers. In addition to Singapore, Adobe is actively exploring other markets and we expect to deliver additional Asia Pacific service locations in the future."
Digital Realty Trust completed the acquisition of its Singapore business park in December 2010.
Digital Realty says its data centers feature state-of-the-art power and cooling architecture that has been optimized for "green operation." The company says each facility is built using its POD Architecture and uses metered power to provider pay-per-use billing.
The data center is equipped with Digital Realty's PowerVU software to enable centralized management of data center power consumption, energy efficiency and load analysis.
Singapore has been a hotbed for IT infrastructure and services investment this year. Web hosting provider Tata Communications plans to invest $357 million in Singapore over the next four years, and web host T-Systems said last month that it anticipates an increase in demand for enterprise application based and infrastructure services in Singapore. IBM also recently invested $38 million in a new cloud computing data center in Singapore.
