A page from EPI's website shows the guidelines of its certification
(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Indian data center provider CtrlS (www.ctrls.in) announced on Friday that its Tier IV data center has achieved the EPI certification based on ANSI/TIA-942 standards.
According to the press release, CtrlS is the first Tier IV data center in the Asia Pacific region to receive this certification.
EPI (www.epi-certification.com) is a data center consulting and certification firm. The certification, created by the company, is based on international standards for data centers, according to the press release.
The TIA-942 certification is the telecommunication infrastructure standard for data centers and reviews data centers based on its architecture, electrical, mechanical and telecommunications.
According to the press release, other areas of measurement include location and construction, environmental control and monitoring, fire suppression, electromagnetic field analysis, network, operation security and safety measures and maintenance and support.
“I am very pleased to announce the EPI certification for our data center facilities.
Our Tier IV data center facilities help meet the rising customer requirements for colocation, managed hosting and data storage and a suite of other complementary services including managed security services and storage requirements of our customers from across the globe," R.S. Prasad Rao, senior director at CtrlS Datacenters Ltd. said in a statement.
"CtrlS has chosen the Tier ratings based on ANSI/TIA-942 as this is an open public standard for Tier levels which therefore allows transparency to our end-users helping them understand what level of investment CtrlS has done to ensure customers business is well protected.
This, we believe will provide further impetus towards strengthening our foothold in the enterprise data services marketplace."
“EPI’s Tier Classification audit is based on the well recognized international standard ANSI/TIA-942 for ensuring a data center is designed and built to supply the uptime required by the business and its customers," Edward Van Leent, chairman and CEO of Enterprise Product Integration said in a statement.
"EPI’s Tier Certification is a globally applicable and recognizable validation of a data center’s capability to perform maintenance or respond to a fault without affecting the data center’s availability.”
Most data centers are certified under the SAS 70 guidelines.
On Thursday, Canadian Web Hosting completed its SAS 70 Type II audit.
